Episode 4- An Nice Day in the Woods
“When you do something stupid and die, it’s pathetic. When you do something stupid and survive it, then you get to call it impressive or heroic." – Dresden Files : Dead Beat – Jim Butcher
The hero’s spent time with Old Marge, and investigated their “new” ship. During the night Old Marge came into the ship and read the Harrow for the Adventurers.
The next morning they found that Old Marge had passed in her sleep while reading “Far Shores and Other Wonders: A Dream of Things Undiscovered” one of the Holy Texts of Desna; Goddess of Luck, Travelers, as well as he Moon and Stars themselves. The book was open to the following text:
Opening Prayer To the Hidden Moon
“Hail Desna Dark Lady of the Crossroads, of wisdom hard-won, grant me Thy blessing, purify my heart, and teach me the truth of my soul; show me that death is but the gateway to life. Blessed Be, my life unburdened by troubles and stem me with confidence. Keep thy future future clad a mystery.”
Yo investigated the belongings she left behind and with the help of Bootleather and Norn raised a Sky Bridge funeral scaffolding for the kindly old woman. Later that day they found that the canopy of trees were full of Zetan near-butterflies. A good omen to be sure.
After some discussion with Bootleather it was determined that he would join the party, for want of anywhere else to go. Marge was the only person who’d ever been nice to him and he’s hoping that these new tall-ones will help him get past his grief (though he’d never show it).
Drake was able to capture much of this on camera and spends the next several days editing together the excellent and heroic footage he’s gotten so far.
Norn, Yo, Raka and Bootleather eventually set off to the nearby colony in the hopes of locating parts for their ship, and perhaps getting to the bottom of what the Blue Dawn Vesk are doing on Zeta 5.
Norn, Yo, and Raka are able to easily infiltrate the facilty thanks to instructions from Bootleather, who showed them where there was a vulnerability in the perimeter secuirty.
Investigating the colony the discovered that the few remaining colonists had been subjected to some sort of unsettling mind control. Large magitech beetle constructs cling to the colonists faces forcing them to go mechanically through the motions of self care and colony maintenance.
The hero’s found three Blue Dawn Vesk attempting to circumvent the payment system on a fabricatior inside ABADARMAKE the local general goods supply and Temple to Abadar; God of Prosperity. Making short work of the Vesk the party slew two and interogated another, finding that the Vesk had intitially numbered a Claw, or 16, and that they were located in the impact crater near the town.
Crossing the street the heros discovered a Community Hall, formally dedicated to Hylax, Abadar, and Desna which had been desecrated by the Vesk in the name of Kaboleth the Vesk God of Political Power, known as the Usurper or Defiler for his underhanded tactic
s against his brother Damoritosh.
